This paper presents an overview of individual species from the order Corallinales that are in the red list of seaweeds and marine flowering plants in Croatia. Algae from the order Corallinales are red algae from the section Rhodophyta. They are widespread in all the world's oceans, where they often cover almost 100% of rocky substrates. The mentioned types of algae incorporate calcium carbonate into their cell walls, which gives them strength, and they can often be mistaken for stone. Coralline communities are habitats bioconstructed by algae from the order Corallinales, which show an incredibly complex three-dimensional structure and are considered one of the largest hotspots of biodiversity found in the Adriatic. Mediterranean species of algae from the Corallinales order are increasingly threatened by anthropogenic influences, especially climate change. Considering the slow growth dynamics of many species, mass mortality events call into question the future of coralline habitats and lead to the loss of biodiversity.
